My experience with cryotherapy:

So I have been hearing all about the benefits of cryotherapy and have a couple of friends who swear by it – you know where you stand in a freezing cold tank to reduce pain, inflammation, and aging, increase circulation, and give your mood and metabolism a boost… I have studied Ayurveda and Kundalini yoga where cold showers first thing in the morning are highly recommended but I have never quite gotten into them.

So I go to my first appointment – it feels kind of like a cold shower but there’s a nice lady there to keep me distracted. I’m not sold. I’m not NOT sold. And I love a good deal – so I drop $200 on the “new client” package.

Now in my world, $200 is a heck of a lot to spend on 8 three-minutes sessions (24 minutes total) in freeze chamber especially when cold showers are available for free but since I did invest that much in being cold can you guess what else I started doing?

You got it! I now end my showers with a couple of minutes of cold water and its way more effective than a cup of coffee! Not only that but after just a few weeks my body automatically adjusts its temperature so I am always feeling comfortable! But I never would have begun my new ritual if I hadn’t invested what I consider a crazy amount of money.

When it comes to investing in ourselves sometimes it’s hard to define what’s worth it. We don’t really know until we take that leap and it often feels a little scary or a little crazy! But sometimes it is the act of leaning a little bit into the outrageous side that it enough to change our focus and therefore change our lives.

I leave you with these questions…

Have you ever noticed you practice better oral hygiene right before or after your dental cleaning?
And if you were to treat yourself to a monthly massage, body wrap, manicure, facial, personal training session, life coaching session, house cleaner OR whatever tickles your fancy… how much better might you take care of yourself or your environment in the interim?

And in what area might you currently need the most care?
